The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was approved in the EU in April of 2016, with official enforcement beginning on May 25th of 2018. So, how is this simple string of letters causing such a buzz and what do you need to do about it?
Essentially, the GDPR is meant to serve as an additional layer of protection for consumers and their personal data. Compliance covers a broad range of business operations, including everything from obtaining consent from data subjects (also known as site visitors) to providing the ability for individuals to have their personal data erased from your system.
If the above was news to you, you’re not alone! A recent survey shows that 61% of companies have yet to begin preparation for the enactment of GDPR. Which, as we mentioned, is due for full roll-out in about two months. And the penalties for non-compliance are by no means trivial, starting at 10 million euros and capping out at 4% of annual global revenue.
In this webinar, we covered:
An in-depth look at how GDPR came to be
What aspects of your operations will be affected by GDPR
The keys to GDPR compliance
How to prepare, become compliant and stay compliant with GDPR
